Babies, Baseball, and New Beginnings

Tomorrow begins our real new normal. Brandon goes back to work after being off with me for 3 weeks. I'm so thankful for those 3 weeks even if he doesn't think I am sometimes. I'm nervous for my sanity tomorrow with all four kids home with just me all.day.long. I have a very hands-on husband so I know it's going to a long day without him. Monday is going to be even longer because I have to manage getting Cameron to and from school AND taking him (and Lilly and babies) to his 7pm baseball game. Brandon should be able to join us as the ballpark but I'm still nervous about it. It will all work out I'm sure.

This is just a glimpse into what my/our life is going to be like for a long time to come so I better get used to it! I called my boss Wednesday and turned in my resignation. I was nervous as mess to make that call. It's hard to walk away from a job and income this day and age. Not to mention there were aspects of my job that I will miss very much. I am grateful despite my resignation they are throwing us a baby shower on April 30th, just one day before my last official day as an employee. I haven't seen anyone since I left on January 19th and it feels good to know they care and have kept up with me and my "little" big family. It's bittersweet and actually a great relief that I will not have to juggle responsibilities outside of the home for at least a couple of years. Now I will focus on babies, baseball, and Brandon!

For those interested, this is what a day in the life a new twin, but been there done that (btdt), mom looks like:

Let's start at the beginning of the day...............................when exactly does the day begin?! Does it begin at the 12 am feeding, 3am feeding, the 5am feeding, or the 7am feeding??

All times are very approximate and are subject to change without notice and often do........

  • 5am--Feed babies (nurse), change diapers, put them back down and hope they sleep a couple of hours.
  • 6:45am--Time for Cameron to get up and get ready for school (Brandon has been doing this), feed the big kids and give out meds/vitamins
  • 7am--Feed one baby (maybe two), change diapers, put them down for a snooze if possible, shower for Mama if I didn't get one the night before
  • 8:30am--Breakfast and coffee for Mama and check bank accounts and bills, converse with Lilly about what she wants to do and what snack she wants (initiated by her), morning chores (swiffer, sweep, dishes if needed, vacuum)
  • 9am--Feed a baby (maybe two), change diapers and clothes, hold babies/put babies in bouncy chairs, occupy Lilly (Brandon has been managing Lilly for the most part)
  • 11am--I may potty or I may not. My hair may be brushed, it may not. I probably have on pajama/yoga pants even after my shower if I take one, I always have on a bra thanks to nursing so no worries with that, start thinking about lunch for Lilly, maybe feed a baby or two, change a diaper or two or three or four
  • 11:30am--Feed Lilly
  • 12pm--Lilly naps (in our old life, not so much in our new life)
  • 2pm--Usually feed two babies, change diapers, straighten up here and there, restock diapers if needed (we go through a lot), get ready to get Cameron from school (Brandon)
  • 3:15pm--Cam's home from school and chaos breaks out.......................
  • For the next 5 hours we feed kids, maybe have baseball practice or a game twice a week or big kids play outside, bathe big kids, maybe spongebathe baby kids, feed babies, feed babies, change babies, change babies, fuss at the big kids, put the big kids to bed, feed babies, pray for babies to go to bed, dream of going to bed...............you get the drift............
  • 9pm--Feed babies, change diapers, dream of going to bed
  • 11pm--Feed a baby, change diapers, dream of going to bed
  • 1am--Feed a baby, change diapers, dream of going to bed
  • 3am--Feed/console a baby or two, change diapers, dream of sleep................
  • 5am--"wake-up" and repeat.................................................................................................................................................................................

We are loving these baseball days! Cameron and Tyler, best buds.
A very tired Mama and two tired little boys after their doctor visit.
A very tired Daddy. Always multitasking!
Brothers after an early morning nursing session...we got this!
Just a little bonding time with Kole.
